11 Signs that you are Maturing Spiritually 4

This is the last in the series on indicators that show that you are maturing spiritually. How can a wife know that she's pregnant? She may detect some signs including vomiting in the mornings and a craving for odd things like sand, to eat. In the same way, there are some signs you can perceive which show that you're maturing spiritually. Here are the final two.




Discipling new fellow believers

Jesus Christ commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). You will recall that I stated previously that one of the signs that you're maturing spiritually is that you will be mission-minded- you will prize the winning of souls above all else in your life. An even stronger sign is that not only would you be preaching and investing your resources in making the Gospel known, you'd be making disciples. You would have a strong desire for new believers who come to Christ to be strengthened in their faith and to be established. You would pray that Christ be formed in them so that they live in the light of the Word of God. God's ultimate desire is that we, His children, should be conformed into the image of His Son. The apostles studied the Word together; they communed with one another in fellowship and encouraged each other with God's Word. Discipling new believers is a sign that you're maturing spiritually. 'Well, I don't know where to start,' you may say. Find someone and share a truth you have discovered from the Word with that person- you can simply share your quiet time with the person. Then, you can progress to share with the fellow about the basics of Christianity. You may not know much but you sure can share something. To disciple someone, you yourself have to be a disciple. Discipling involves intensive training to conform to the character, personality and fulness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Only the Word does that best: If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. (John 8:31)



Christ consciousness

The kind of mentality you possess rules your life. It will determine to a large extent the quality of life you will live. What kind of thoughts do you have about yourself? You must have proper thoughts about yourself:  Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8) See yourself in Christ. The Word of God gives you a mindset that enables you to think beyond the ordinary. The Bible says we walk by faith, not by sight. In other words, we see things from a different perspective- we see things from God's perspective. Train yourself to think based on the Word of God. Christ consciousness means that irrespective of the circumstance that may come against you, you know that you're more than a conqueror; and you talk as one. You will see your life as a manifestation of the glory of God. When you begin to have Christ consciousness, you cannot be discouraged- no matter what. You will be in a state of thanksgiving always because you know that God's plan for you is to give you an expected end! Hallelujah!
