Seize the Opportunity of a Lifetime

 

I don’t know about you but I really like apple drinks. On Sunday evening, I went to get La Casera, an apple drink, from a shop in my neighbourhood. When I was returning, I decided to use an alternative route. There was a figure slouched on the floor next to a wall. I heard in my spirit, “Give him one of the drinks.” (I bought three bottles) I thought, “Okay. Will do.” Then I passed by him. But I greeted him as I passed and asked how he was. Just then he got up. I can only imagine the number of people who had passed by him without acknowledging him. So I took one bottle out of the bag and gave it to him.

But before I left, I asked him, “What are you doing here?”

He said, “I just wanted to be alone and understand some things going on in my life.” There was a long pause as I stood staring at him. The truth is I was in a hurry and felt my assignment with him was to just give him the drink and leave. But I realized that there was much more to it: to share Jesus with Him. So I explained to him that God has a plan for his life and that trying to figure things out by himself wouldn’t work. Jesus is the answer. He is the reason for his being. I asked him, “What’s your name?”

He said, “Tairu.” (He was a Muslim) “And how old are you?”

“Less than 30,” he replied. I said to him, “You’re still young. You have so much potential. God has endowed you with grace to live for Him and abilities to make an impact in this world before you leave. But it’s up to you to get to know Him.” As I shared the Word with Him, I could sense his faith increasing. I gave him the opportunity to receive Christ and led him to Christ in prayer. I was so overjoyed that I heeded the Voice of the Holy Spirit to give him the drink. And through that he received the Living Water: Jesus. Years ago, I wrote a book entitled Everybody Needs Jesus: The Evangelism Manual. In Chapter 1 of the book, I share about paying attention to the Holy Spirit. That is a major key for soul winning. This week, be sensitive to Him. Listen for His Voice in your interactions with people you come across and you’ll be amazed at the harvest of souls you’ll bring in. Leonard Ravenhill said, “The opportunity of a lifetime is seized in the lifetime of the opportunity.” Seize the opportunities you have today to win the lost.
