Blackness of Darkness

I was asphyxiated

A cardiac arrest was imminent

What was I to do now!?

Death stared me in the eye and chuckled

The blackness of darkness was thick

My heart raced a billion times faster

For the prince of the power of the air was at it again

He spread lies and deception across the airwaves

Words not comely to heed were put in songs

They were lulling many a brethren into a perpetual spiritual slumber

Words not comely to enter the heart

Were mingled with melodies

That sped fast as a dart aiming for the heart

I was asphyxiated

A cardiac arrest was imminent

What was I to do now!?

Thank God for His Word

Which keeps us unspotted, separate from the world

And its corrupting influences

Thank God for His Word

Which is light that pierces through the blackness of darkness

Clearing the air for the heavens to declare the glory of God

Thank God for His Word

Which cleanses and washes my mind

Imparting strength to my inner man

And lifting my eyes to look at that which is unseen

Intently gazing into the glass and beholding the glory of God

Thank God for His Word

Which works in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure

Enabling me to think on things which are true,

Things which are noble,

Things which are honest,

Things which are pure,

Things which are lovely,

Things which are of good report!

I was asphyxiated

A cardiac arrest was imminent

What was I to do now!?

Was I going to pass away on board public transport?!

No way!

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death!

Finally, the suffocation ended

For I longed for the Lord more than the sentries long for the morning!

I slouched my way out of the blackness of darkness

Gasping for the clear air in the atmosphere!

#EDIFY...poetry that builds you!
