Chronicles of Kingdom Cathedral, Okponglo

Pastor Samuel Fianko shared during last mid-week's service on '13 things you should know about giftings'.

Reading from Psalm 119:130, Pastor Sam emphasized that it is the entrance of the Word that giveth light. He explained that most of the time we don't allow the Word of God to enter us. It is when the Word of God enters your life that it has effect on your life (Luke 8:15). We need to keep the Word in our hearts and realize that it is our mode of transformation.

He further went on to teach on the top 13 things you should know about giftings, touching on the first four.

1. Gifts are not earned; they are received.

You don't work for a gift (James 1:17). Neither do you receive a gift because you worked for it. The work associated with your gift is the development of the gift. The gift may be inherently there but you have a responsibility to realize it and work towards developing it.

2. Your gift is irrevocable

Reading from Romans 11:29, Pastor Sam explained that the gift you received is yours; God won't take it back. No one can take your gift from you.

3. You are a steward over the gift and you must be faithful with it.

Your gift may be small but if you don't steward it, it won't grow to become bigger. ( Luke 12:42; Luke 16:10)

A steward doesn't own the thing but has ownership over it. Stewardship is taking care of something like it's your own.

Operating in certain gifts should humble us and not make us proud. We need to take care of our gifts and nurture them to grow.

4. Your purpose is inextricably tied to your gift.

Your gift helps you to accomplish your purpose on earth.
