Chronicles of GLIC Kingdom Cathedral

On 21st February, 2017 during the Kingdom Cathedral midweek service, Pastor Samuel Fianko continued his message on prophecy.

Recapping from the previous week's message, Pastor Sam shared on the two kinds of prophecies and the purpose of prophecies.

He stated that the two kinds of prophecies are:

i) Forth-telling prophecies
This has to do with speaking forth the logos_(the written word of God).

ii) Fore-telling prophecies
This is concerned with telling of future events.

Reading from 1 Corinthians 14:3, he explained that there are three purposes of prophecy viz.:
1. Edification
2. Exhortation
3. Comfort

Pastor Sam then delved into the main message which was 'The Three Realms of the Prophetic'.

He taught on the first two as follows: 

1. The Prophecy of Scripture

He stated that the Prophecy of Scripture is infallible, i.e., without errors. The Prophecy of the Scripture is paramount and it's the Word of God. He added that every other prophecy must align with the Prophecy of Scripture.

He admonished the congregation to be child-like and not childish. To be childish means to be immature where as being child-like means trusting and believing. He encouraged us to believe in the Prophecy of the Scripture which is the Word of God.

2.The Spirit of Prophecy

Quoting from 1 Corinthians 2:4, Pastor Sam explained that the Spirit of Prophecy is the atmosphere of the prophetic that is created around someone who is not anointed to be a prophet. Again he spoke of the fact that every born again Christian can operate under the Spirit of Prophecy (Revelation 19:10)

He set forth an instance of the operation of the Spirit of Prophecy in 1 Samuel 19:18-24 and concluded by saying that in our Churches today, when someone prophesies once or twice, the person is loosely called a prophet. However, if the spirit of prophecy comes upon you and causes you to prophesy, it doesn't make you a prophet.
