It was 16:07 HRS GMT on an enchanting Friday afternoon. I hollered to the taxi driver and he stopped. Next, I sat in the taxi and he drove off. Pleasantries were exchanged when I sat in the vehicle and everyone had a smile on their face- except me. Why? The atmosphere was redolent with a pungent odour. It made me choke and look outside through the window; drowning my thoughts with noble, good, pure, lovely and admirable things.( Philippians 4:8)
You may be asking, 'What was that smell which made you choke?'. Well, it was so-called music playing from the radio of the taxi. You see, if something does not entice you; it may put you off. Whatever happened to Christian music? The air is filled with so much mist and fog; blinding people.
As children of God, we reflect the glory of God; diminishing the darkness in the world. Nonetheless, if we choose to be enticed by lyrics which propagate utter gibberish, we reduce our tendency to shine.
Beloved, isn't it a joyful experience when you sing along with anointed ministers of God; making melody in your heart as streams of living water flow out of you?
The nub of this article is: the intimacy and pleasure you enjoy as you listen to music that connects with your spirit is far more rewarding than what the so-called stars purport to project.
I get saddened when I realise that during part of the week some Radio Stations choose to play all that 'junk' and then on Sunday they decide to play real music for the glory of God. Is it that difficult to do it throughout the week?
In fine, I urge you to fellowship with the Lord everywhere you go. Remember,'do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world'(Romans 12: 2). You have been chosen by the Creator of the universe- let the smoke that emanates as you joyfully adore Him begin to rise.
Summary sentence: Align the music you listen to with God's Word.
Savour this song!
