The following are seven things every Church Planter should know about the Priestly ministry:
# We are priests unto the Lord.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal PRIESTHOOD, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
(1 Peter 2:9)
And hath made us kings and PRIESTS unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
(Revelation 1:6)
# The prayers we offer are incense unto the Lord.
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as INCENSE; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
(Psalm 141:2)
And the smoke of the INCENSE, which came with the PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
(Revelation 8:4)
# The priest ministers to the Lord and not for the Lord.
For every high priest is ordained TO OFFER GIFTS AND SACRIFICES:...
(Hebrews 8:3)
# There is a need for perpetual incense (unceasing prayer) to be offered unto the Lord.
And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a PERPETUAL INCENSE before the Lord throughout your generations.
(Exodus 30:7-8)
# A priest sins when he does not offer the incense of prayer.
Moreover as for me, GOD FORBID THAT I SHOULD SIN AGAINST THE LORD IN CEASING TO PRAY FOR YOU: but I will teach you the good and the right way:
(1 Samuel 12:23)
# The priest is able to save (or cause salvation) by intercession.
Wherefore HE IS ABLE ALSO TO SAVE THEM to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing HE EVER LIVETH TO MAKE INTERCESSION FOR THEM.
(Hebrews 7:25)
# Great miracles happen to the priest as he performs his priestly duty (see Luke 1:5-23,57).
