Seizing the opportunity of a lifetime

Leonard Ravenhill once posited, "The opportunity of a lifetime is only seized in the lifetime of the opportunity."

One Friday morning, I went to the VIP bus terminal to receive a parcel. After signing for it, I started off from the terminal, carrying the heavy parcel. I had in mind to take a taxi but my frugal instincts reminded me to walk to a trotro bus stop and board a troto, so I obeyed Mr. Frugal within!

As I walked, here came a tall, dark scruffy middle-aged man  walking on my left side; he wanted to help me carry the load (obviously for a fee). So my first reaction was, "How much are you taking?" But after handing it over to him and walking for about five seconds it dawned on me that this was a glorious opportunity to help him as he helped me.

He seized the opportunity when he saw the need, and I also seized the opportunity when I saw the need. (Always see the need and seize the opportunity). Compassion welled up in my heart as I thought about how I would be the the one to get him his breakfast and share the Gospel with him.

So we got to the bus stop and he put the parcel down. I asked for his name. He said, "Ralph." I also introduced myself to him and shared the Gospel with him.

He was truly blessed because He received Christ...and breakfast!

I asked him if he could read and he affirmed. So I gave him two of the tracts I had and wrote my name and number behind one of them and insisted that he call me, because I truly desire to expose him to realities of the new creation so that he can live a victorious life in Christ!

Thank God for the opportunity of a lifetime!
