Turning the Poolside Gate into Heaven's Gate

One Saturday evening, I had a meeting at the Legon Poolside with my dear co-labourers, Ministers Emmanuel and Graham and Hylda. Upon ending our meeting, we set out to go and visit some of our sheep before going home. But, I was hesitant to leave when I saw many young people frolicking and excitedly looking into their phone screens in their swim suits. I whispered to the Lord, "Lord, we need to share the Gospel here."

The team saw my slow walking and also slowed down. They turned to me. I looked at them and said, "We need to preach the Gospel to them." They were vacillating, so we went further, but I keep sensing my heart nudging me and saying, "Why did you miss out on that opportunity?"

When we got to the gate of the poolside, we saw another myriad of young people (maybe 15-20 of them) who were gathered round a taxi, some  dancing to the music, others sitting in the taxi and still other drinking whatever it was they were drinking. My concern was, "Are these people saved?" Once again, when I told the team we should minister to them, they were hesitant.

So we walked a few metres past them and then I turned around, walked straight to them and strangely the first words that came out of my lips as I approached them were, "Lift up your hands!" To date, I still can't fathom why I said that. The music was very loud. But when I said that, they all lifted up their hands. I told them that I had something important to share with them. They all turned to me and listened intently. One of them even told the "DJ" in the taxi to turn off the music so that they listen.

I preached the Gospel to them and did an altar call! It was phenomenal! Many of them lifted up their hands and prayed the prayer of salvation with us.

We gave them tracts afterwards and took their details. We asked them also take our numbers and to contact us if they needed counselling. It's amazing how we still maintain contact with some of them till date!

I am so glad that we gave Heaven a cause to rejoice that day!

Never let fear keep you from preaching the Gospel! The Word says you have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind! (2 Timothy 1:7)

...interestingly, they kept their hands up till I finished preaching!

Gloryyyyy!
