One beautiful Sunday afternoon, I set out to go to Kasoa for some invitation cards from my Auntie's. When I arrived at the bus stop, I met with one of my JHS mates who first recognized me and called out my name.
I responded and tried to recall his name, but it was difficult to do so. So he finally mentioned his name and then I remembered. We talked for close to ten minutes and then we parted, having decided to keep in touch with each other.
As I approached the bus, I decided to sit at the front, next to a young man wearing a singlet and holding on to a phone. The bus began to move and I also made my move to share the Gospel with him the moment the Holy Spirit prompted me. Since it was a Sunday, the logical question to ask was, "Did you go to Church today?" That was meant to kickstart a conversation and enable me to begin sharing with him.
He said he did not go to Church, with his eyes fixed on the phone as he played Subway Surf. I told him, "I want to share God's Word with you." Just then he put the phone aside and put on his shirt, whiles the bus was moving (it was as though his daddy had told him to put the phone aside, wear his shirt and listen to me).
I shared the Gospel with him with simplicity and then he gave his life to Jesus Christ. His name is Hackman. "I have not been going to Church," he said. He lamented that he would love to but he has no motivation to. I told him it was simply because he did not know the Lord in the first place.
There was a brief pause. And then he said, "Thank you so much for helping me. I am so happy I can now have someone to put pressure on me to go to Church."
I was amazed that he was thanking me. There was joy sprawled all over his face. I asked him whether he had a Bible but he said he never had one. So I encouraged him to get one, since he said it was not because of a lack of money; he simply did not know that he needed one.
It's such a joyful experience when you lead someone to Christ.
Hackman is excited about his new life in Christ. We exchanged numbers and he's so eager to go to Church the following Sunday.
One of the things I am also excited about is the prospect of helping him to grow up spiritually, of discipling him. Here was someone who needed, literally longed for another to just bear him up in prayer and to urge him to get excited about God and his House.
Remember that Jesus sent us to make disciples. The folks we lead to Christ must be established in Him. We are the main access points for their edification before they encounter the ministry gifts (pastors, apostles, teachers, prophets, evangelists). As such, there is the need to continue to love them, pray for them and feed them with the Word of God.
Preach the Gospel today! Share the love of Christ with somebody! Pray for the lost! Pray for those whom you've already led to the Lord, that they may be established in the faith. Encourage and exhort a brother or sister with the Word, for the end is near!
Gloryyyyyy!!!!
