Family Affairs III

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

John 3:16, CEV

We established previously that Jesus Christ Himself is not ashamed to call us His brothers (Hebrews 2:11). Praise God! This is the concluding part of the article and I believe most of the greater stuff is in here- so pay close attention. If Jesus is our brother, and we are part of this glorious family, of what significance is it to God and to us? Why would God trade His Son for a famiy? As we jouney through this third part of the series, you will see God's purpose unfold clearly. We see here again in Romans 8:29, the brotherhood of Jesus:

'For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.'

I want you to notice something about this verse: he says God's sole purpose in calling us to be His sons is so that we will be conformed to the image of his Son; and so that at the end of it He may become the firstborn among us all! You see, it denotes that God's purpose is not for His children to suffer in this earth and enjoy glory with Him later. No! God's purpose is for us to become just like Jesus whiles we live on this earth. Currently we bear the image of Jesus in our spirits. Nonetheless, the point the Apostle Paul is making here is that the outward reflection; that is our thoughts, our character, our deeds, and our words will become exactly like that of Jesus: the express expression of perfection!

Now, let's read on to the next verse of what we just saw: 'Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.'
Brother, God is not about to do it. The Bible says He's already done it. The reason you say you cannot see the change is because you've not looked in and thought like that long enough. These things ought occupy your thinking completely. He says those He predestinated, He;
  • called
  • justified, and glorified!
What else would you need in life but this? Look, God has a glorious plan for your life- it's up to you to find it out. The Bible says, 'For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.' (Ephesians 2:10). God had ordained a long time ago that you should operate in that purpose He has called you to. Don't ever give up on that dream. It is God's will for you to complete that mission before you leave this earth. Start acting now!

Finally, I want to point out to you the basic requirement for functioning in this family. It's faith: 'Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:' (Romans 5:1). Paul clearly states it in 2 Corinthians 5:7. He says, '(For we walk by faith, not by sight:).' It is of great necessity that you refuse to pay attention to your flesh. Why? Because if you walk in the flesh, you cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6; Romans 8:8). Be spiritually-minded. Stay on the platform of the Word in all circumstances and you will see great improvement in your life.
Another great trait exhibited by the people of this family is love.
