Family Affairs I

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
John 3:16, CEV

Everybody needs to know that God loves them. Why? Because He proved His love by what He did. When I preach the Gospel, I ask the people, 'Do you know that if you were the only sinner on earth, Christ would still have died in your place?' That is when they realize the gravity of God's love. Beloved, God really really really loves you irrespective of your milieu. I wish there were a way to express it to you in words but just know that He loves you! I want to draw your attention to a very important subject that will help you in your relationship with Christ.

The theme scripture says that 'God loved the people of this world so much that....' In other words, when He loved us, He did something. That thing He did was that He gave His only Son to die on our behalf. Notice that the Bible says 'only Son'. The KJV renders that portion as 'only begotten Son'. Now, pay close attention to this because I am getting you somewhere.

You see, after 'He gave His only Son,' there is 'so that'. 'So that' in that context refers to purpose. It expresses why God did what He did! This is the revelation: God traded His Son for a family! Praise the Lord!

Revelation 1:5,6 says, 'And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.'
